Reefer service

One may transport dry cargo through dry vans. But when it comes to the need for a controlled environment, then you will need what we call reefer trucking services. This ensures the arrival of the cargo in its best condition, does not matter whether it is temperature or moisture needed in the controlled environment.

Note: We sometimes use the term refrigerated, but it is better to use temperature-controlled reefers. This is because there are several types of reefer trucks and they are not limited to just the lower temperature environments.

Types of reefer trucking

There are three types as follows:

● Refrigerator trailers: They include both freezers as well as refrigerators. The difference between the two is of a few degrees, which may be technical to some. It is extremely important for ensuring that the goods being transported remain in a good state.
● Cryogenic reefer: These are rare trucks as they are mostly applied for medical and technical companies for extremely low temperatures’ maintenance. They are mostly used in extreme cases, however, they may be availed by government agencies and medical companies occasionally.
● Heated trucks: Sometimes you need a warmer climate for the product rather than a cold one. That is where such trucks come into play.

Reefer trucks and their size

Reefer trucks can be found in standard trailer sizes. However, some companies prefer using 102” wide reefers as well as high cube reefers for more storage space.

The size is an appropriate one for wider items. It is also quite larger than the standard trucks. But, it is not always possible to use such trucks due to road regulations and traffic. During such circumstances, the trailers may find difficulty travelling through smaller streets of cities.

During such instances, high cube reefers are a good option and replacement. They have higher tops and thus are able to compensate for the width and other measurements.

Use of specific flooring for air circulation

Most of the traditional reefer trucks make use of wooden floors for aiding air circulation. This is their way of allowing and preserving moisture in the air and letting ventilation occur freely.
